Ocean Network Express (ONE) has chartered the 14,952 teu newbuilding
ZENITH LUMOS, first in a series of four vessels that Hyundai
Heavy Industries (HHI) is building for Zodiac Maritime for delivery between
September 2020 and June 2021.
The quartet was ordered in August 2018 and is fitted with SOx scrubbers.
The ZENITH LUMOS, which is currently undergoing sea trials, is to join
the Asia – Med ‘MD2’ service of THE Alliance on 20 September in
Busan. This new series of neo-panamax ships present a Loa of 366
m for a breadth of 51 m allowing to stow 20 rows of containers on
deck.
Of note, HHI has already delivered five 14,272 teu newbuildings (19
rows on deck) and four 15,000 teu ships (20 rows) to Zodiac Maritime
between June 2019 and July 2020 which all have been chartered
on a long term basis by MSC.
ONE has currently no new owned tonnage under construction. Plans
to order six 23,000 teu megamax ships have been reportedly postponed
earlier this year after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
